“…the Christian initiation of adults begins with their entry into the catechumenate and reaches its culmination in a single celebration of the three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.” CCC 1233
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is not a program, but a process in which a person who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seeks the triune God with a sincere heart and enters the Catholic Church. The RCIA process finds its roots in the life of the early Church, where those seeking to enter the Church were slowly and systematically introduced into the rich sacramental, spiritual, and prayerful traditions of the Catholic Church, with the help and support of the local church community. The RCIA process is divided into four periods; each has its own special character and concludes with a special liturgical rite.
