St. Joseph Parish, Diocese of Columbus, serving all baptized Roman Catholics in Pickaway County, living in unity with our Holy Father, seeks to respond to the needs of those living around and among us, in our parish community, our city and county, our diocese, and our world. All women parishioners are considered members of the Altar/Rosary Society. Each year, the committee holds several events, including a rummage sale in the spring and fall, a ladies’ brunch, and fundraisers for wine, hosts, and altar cloths. They also organize church cleanings. Their efforts are directed toward maintaining the beauty and dignity of the altar-area in the church. They also promote the praying of the Rosary

This committee volunteers to organize, serve, and clean up after dinners for bereaved families and their guests. For individuals who may not be available to attend funerals, the committee needs volunteers who can make and drop off desserts to be served at the funeral dinners.

The board meets monthly to guide the maintenance and development of St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The cemetery caretaker receives direction from the board for care and upkeep of the cemetery.

They organize food and blanket drives to enable us to feed and clothe the needy.

Parish members volunteer on the fifth Monday of each month to organize, purchase, prepare, serve, and clean up after a meal provided for the sick, lonely, and needy at First Presbyterian Church on Mound St.

To encourage shared resources, local parishes belong to a deanery; St. Joseph is part of the Fairfield-Hocking-Pickaway Deanery. Each parish has a representative that meets with other area deanery representatives monthly to discuss the activities and needs of their individual parishes. The representative then reports back to Parish Council and provides pertinent information for inclusion in the bulletin.

The committee meets monthly at the Rectory to discuss and approve parish finances, expenditures, and investments. New committee members are recommended by the Finance Committee and sent to Fr. Ted for approval.

From their founding in 1882, charity has been the first principle of the Knights. Participants are men of faith and action. The K of C Hall is located at 2489 N. Court St. in Circleville, and many of the organizations events, including the Lenten Fish Fry, are held there. Meetings are the first and third Mondays of the month at 7:00 p.m.

Creates and manages schedules for the liturgical ministries of lectors, Eucharistic ministers, ushers, greeters, and altar servers.

Leads the parish in worship through music. Provides opportunities to participate in Adult Choir, Chime Choir, Junior Choir (youth), a Contemporary Choir, Funeral Choir; and to serve as cantors and instrumentalists.

Volunteers are always needed to help reach out to parishioners in nursing homes and those isolated from their parish community due to illness. Each month a prayer service is offered at local nursing homes, and every week Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion take the Body of Christ to homebound brothers and sisters

Promotes awareness of the sanctity of life within the parish and community, and prays for an increased respect for all human life from conception until natural death, leading the Rosary for that intention after the 10 a.m. Mass each Saturday morning.

The mission of the Parish Council is to unify the parish community and give direction to all ministries of the parish. Committee members discuss the concerns of the parish and participates in pastoral planning. The Council promotes collaboration, cooperation, trust and understanding among all groups in the parish.

This committee hosts family and social events for the parish, such as the annual summer parish picnic, and the St. Joseph/St. Patrick Party in March.

In order to be married in the Catholic Church, couples must participate in the Pre-Cana preparation course which aims to ensure they have a sound foundation for a Catholic marriage— one that is free, full, and fruitful.

Adults wishing to be received into the Catholic Church undertake the Rite of Initiation of Christian Adults, which lasts from September through Pentecost. Meeting weekly, they are introduced to the Catholic Faith, have opportunity to ask questions, and are prepared to receive the Sacraments of Initiation.

The Parish School of Religion provides religious education for students pre-school through high school (September through May), including First Communion and Confirmation sacrament preparation. Youth Ministry, which includes a variety of activities, is geared toward youth 3rd grade through high school. Adult faith formation opportunities also available.

The Mission of the Spiritual Life Committee is to provide support and help for the spiritual renewal of St. Joseph parish members and those in the community. The committee focuses on liturgical celebrations and spiritual devotions that build evangelization and ecumenism.

Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference, connected with both the diocese and the National SVdP, helps those who are in need in Pickaway County. They primarily help those who cannot cover their utility bills, and also make home visits if clients cannot come to them. They meet monthly; Fr. Ted serves as spiritual advisor. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a world-wide lay community founded by Bl. Frederic Ozanam Paris, France, in 1833, to serve Jesus in the poor through works of charity.
